I'd venture a guess that tens of thousands of blogs have come and gone since I launched The Gonzo Papers on 29 October, 2005.
Consistency has never been a hallmark of The Gonzo Papers, I'll grant you, neither in terms of posting frequency or content quality.
No, this is not a venture in which I invest what is required to achieve excellence, I'll leave that to professional bloggers like Chris Brogan, but it is a thread of the World Wide Web where you'll find passion, an unapologetic point of view, a sense of whimsy and, on a good day, a bit of humor.
I have no expectation anyone will connect with, appreciate and/or support everything that appears here. Frankly, if there is I'd feel I'm failing and, frankly, be concerned about their well being. Ho Ho.
I've never been flippant about my readership, to be sure, whether a visitor has stumbled upon The Gonzo Papers through one social media site or another, they landed here by following a link, with no good idea what they were in for, or they fell down the rabbit hole... I appreciate every visitor.
Those who make their way to The Gonzo Papers as a matter of course, the ones who return with some level of consistency, naturally, are the readers I appreciate most and value above all others.
To you, I offer a heartfelt thank you.
All my social media activity flows from The Gonzo Papers. I owe a debt of gratitude, of course, to anyone and everyone who chooses to partake of my day-to-day ebb and flow by subscribing, following, friending and whatever other terms are applied by various sites.
Considering what The Gonzo Papers would be like four years in the future, or whether it would even exist, isn't something that entered by mind when I published my first post on 29 October, 2005.
Four years later I rarely look beyond the next post when I consider the future of my blog. More often than not I tend to think that's the best way to approach publishing The Gonzo Papers because it's what Works for me and that trumps all other considerations.
This, for your information, is post number 806 and looking back I can say, without hesitation, I'm proud of what I've produced here.
